
WHEREAS, March is Women's History Month and well over 200,000 women are currently serving on active duty in the U.S. military; and
WHEREAS, there are more than 2,000,000 women who have served our Country and this number is rapidly growing; and
WHEREAS, in Nevada, we have approximately 24,000 Women Veterans who have served and an estimated 1,000 women currently serving in our State; and
WHEREAS, the contributions of women in uniform are often undervalued; and
WHEREAS, these dedicated women can be found nationwide, and often go unrecognized in our communities; and
WHEREAS, women from across the United States have contributed to the great achievements and prosperity of our country and these examples of leadership, courage, and determination should be honored and recognized;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 2020 as
WOMEN’S MILITARY HISTORY MONTH IN NEVADA
