WHEREAS, October 1, 2017 marked a tragic day in the history of the Silver State and our nation when 58 people lost their lives and hundreds more were injured due to a senseless act of violence during the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada and all its residents offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to the families, friends and all those who knew and loved the innocent victims who were killed or injured during this devastating attack; and

WHEREAS, we will forever be grateful for the law enforcement officers, first responders, faith-based organizations, counselors and volunteers from all over our state, nation, and around the globe who came together to provide support to our Southern Nevada Community; and

WHEREAS, in the midst of tragedy and pain, our community came together like never before, showing their support by donating blood, food, water, resources, hugs and smiles; and

WHEREAS, we remember the innocent lives lost, the hundreds who were injured, and reflect upon the bravery and resiliency of our community as we heal together from such an evil act of violence;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim October 1, 2020, as

VEGAS STRONG DAY IN NEVADA
