
WHEREAS, Preparedness Month provides an important opportunity for residents of the Silver State to review how to be prepared for any type of emergency; and
WHEREAS, taking steps toward personal preparedness and ensuring that households, workplaces, schools, houses of worship and community-based organizations are prepared for any disaster can reduce fatalities and economic devastation following a major crisis; and
WHEREAS, educating Nevadans on the types of disasters that could happen in our communities will increase awareness for all citizens and visitors to our great state; and
WHEREAS, by participating in community resiliency planning, our residents will know what to do to be safe and mitigate damage; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Management and other agencies across the state are working to increase public awareness in preparing for emergencies, while encouraging individuals to take action; and
WHEREAS, every Nevadan has responsibility to prepare for an emergency, and we urge all residents to work together to ensure that the Silver State is prepared for disasters or emergencies of any type;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of September 2020 as
PREPAREDNESS MONTH IN NEVADA
