
WHEREAS, according to the Human Rights Campaign, National Coming Out Day was first observed thirty-two years ago, on the anniversary of the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, as a reminder that one of the most basic tools is the power of coming out; and

WHEREAS, on this day every year, thousands of members of the LGBTQ community and allies celebrate Coming Out Day with workshops, speak-outs, rallies and other events aimed at raising awareness; and
WHEREAS, today, Nevada celebrates those who have made the difficult decision to share their truth, and offers support to those who have chosen not to come out; and
WHEREAS, the Silver State is proud to recognize the LGBTQ community and their many contributions to our state and nation;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim October 11, 2020 as
COMING OUT DAY IN NEVADA
