
WHEREAS, Chiropractic Medicine is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health; and
WHEREAS, the Institute of Medicine has found that more than 100 million adults live with chronic pain as a result of serious illness or injury, with an estimated annual cost of more than $630 billion in medical expenses, lost wages and lost productivity; and
WHEREAS, millions of Americans visit Doctors of Chiropractic Medicine annually, and chiropractic services are used most often to treat back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs and headaches; and
WHEREAS, Doctors of Chiropractic Medicine are preventative care providers, who focus on the health of the whole person and have expertise in the prevention and care of musculoskeletal injuries; and
WHEREAS, there is a growing body of research that validates the effectiveness of Chiropractic services, leading many health care organizations to recommend Chiropractic and other pain management options;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim October 2020 as
CHIROPRACTIC HEALTH MONTH IN NEVADA
