WHEREAS, Caregiver Recognition Month provides an opportunity to honor the valuable contributions caregivers provide through their support of mental, physical and emotional health, and the coordination of medical care, transportation, home health, personal care, and financial affairs; and

WHEREAS, caregiving is a rewarding experience, but comes with a great deal of sacrifice, often physically and emotionally demanding for millions of our nation’s families and professional caregivers; and

WHEREAS, caregivers provide assistance with a variety of activities of daily living including shopping for food and cooking, cleaning, administering medicine, bathing and providing emotional support, and a majority of caregiver’s care for a relative or other loved one;

WHEREAS, to successfully address the surging population of older adults and others with significant needs for long-term services and supports, we must develop methods to support Nevada’s caregivers, while developing ways to recruit and retain a qualified, responsive care workforce; and

WHEREAS, Nevada values the dedicated work of family and professional caregivers and recognizes caregiving for older Nevadans and Nevadans with disabilities as vital and needed services;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim November 2020 as

CAREGIVER RECOGNITION MONTH
