
WHEREAS, high-quality registered apprenticeship programs have provided opportunities and jobs to Nevadans for decades, and our state has made great strides in successfully expanding apprenticeships into high-demand fields such as cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing and healthcare; and
WHEREAS, the number of active apprentices has consistently increased, including among women and minorities, demonstrating that apprenticeship is a viable career path across all segments of our society; and
WHEREAS, registered apprenticeship provides employers and industries customized training to develop their own skilled workforce; and
WHEREAS, registered apprenticeship sponsors ensure Nevada’s apprentices follow rigorous work and training schedules to become highly-skilled members of the workforce; and
WHEREAS, more than 5,000 active registered apprentices in Nevada are currently training in high-skill careers that will provide opportunity for achievement as well as contribute to the overall prosperity of our state; and
WHEREAS, the
State of Nevada applauds all those working to better our workforce with the
positive impact that apprenticeships have on individuals, their families and
our business community;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of November 8 - 14, 2020 as
APPRENTICESHIP WEEK IN NEVADA
