WHEREAS, Mary Harmon served the State of Nevada with distinction and professional excellence for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary began her career with the Department of Information Technology, on November 1, 1995 as an Information System Specialist II and soon promoted to an Information System Specialist III; and

WHEREAS, Mary transferred to the Controller’s office in September 1998 where she worked on the Integrated Financial System (IFS), and in October 2003, she transferred to the Department of Taxation as an IT Professional IV; and

WHEREAS, Mary promoted to the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) as an IT Manager III in 2007, overseeing the application support team; and

WHEREAS, she worked on multiple projects over the years to implement software enhancements such as automating the UI Claimants payment process using debit cards, and implementing critical program enhancements for federal and state extensions during the 2009 economic downturn; and

WHEREAS, in 2012, Mary was promoted to Chief IT Manager, where she has consistently provided positive direction, inspiration, compassion and thoughtful leadership, as well as critical project management oversight on a multimillion-dollar project to replace legacy systems with a modern integrated UI system; and

WHEREAS, Mary Harmon worked on the replacement of the on-premise legacy State Workforce System to a modern cloud system called EmployNV providing critical project management oversight and keeping the vendor on task to deliver systems that meet business expectations; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada thanks Mary Harmon for her years of dedicated service to the citizens and visitors of our great state and offers best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;
