Governor Sisolak issues statement on COVID-19 cases numbers after holidays

January 03, 2022

LAS VEGAS, NV – Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak issued the following statement in response to a rise in COVID-19 case numbers following the winter holidays.

“Today, we are seeing an alarming number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations reported after the end of year holidays. My team is continuing to analyze the numbers and we are working with health districts and other partners to provide resources to combat the surge we are facing.

Nevadans – we have the resources to fight this pandemic, keep businesses and schools open, and to help bring case numbers down.

First, I want to encourage all Nevadans who have not yet done so to get vaccinated against COVID-19. If you are eligible to do so, please get your booster. Vaccines provide powerful protection against severe cases of COVID-19, hospitalization and death.

Please wear your face mask in indoor public settings, regardless of your vaccination status. If you are sick, please stay at home and seek out COVID-19 testing.

We have made strides to make more treatments available for those who do become sick, and I encourage Nevadans to talk to their doctors or other medical provider to find out more information.”
