Governor Steve Sisolak to tour Western Nevada College, discuss programs funded by the State

CARSON CITY, NV – August 29, 2022

On Tuesday, Governor Steve Sisolak will tour Western Nevada College in Carson City as the first week of school for higher education students gets underway.

The Governor will visit the Commercial Driver’s License program, which received a $400,000 grant earlier this year from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development Board to grow the training program and address the national commercial driver shortage.

Governor Sisolak will also visit the Paramedicine Certificate Program. The Governor’s Office of Science, Innovation and Technology (OSIT) has awarded more than $500,000 total to WNC to support the program’s creation and support the development of a rural healthcare workforce, including additional funds earlier this year for additional EMS High Fidelity Simulation mannequins to improve the training program.

The Governor will also visit the school’s food pantry, run by the Student Government.
