Governor Steve Sisolak to tour low lake level pumping station at Lake Mead, discuss water conservation efforts

LAS VEGAS, NV – August 22, 2022

On Wednesday, Governor Steve Sisolak will tour the low lake level pumping station at Lake Mead and discuss water conservation efforts as the federal government announced new water cuts for Nevada, Arizona and Mexico.

During his time as a Clark County Commissioner, the Governor voted to fund the critical pumping station at Lake Mead, which was made operational this year. The Governor will discuss other efforts the State is taking to conserve and recycle water during the press conference.

The Governor will be joined by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) and community stakeholders for the tour and press conference

Afterwards, the Governor will visit the Nevada Department of Wildlife’s Lake Mead Fish Hatchery. As put forward by Governor Sisolak, on August 17th the Nevada legislature approved $3.1 million for a water supply line for the hatchery to support efforts to provide water and energy to the Lower Colorado River Basin and create a sustainable environment to protect wildlife.
