Governor Sisolak to Join Environmental Advocates and Elected Officials on Earth Day as Group Calls for Strong Climate Investments

***MEDIA ADVISORY*** Friday, April 22, 2022, at 11:00 am

LAS VEGAS, NV - April 21, 2022

This Earth Day, Friday, April 22, Governor Sisolak will join the Nevada Conservation League, elected officials, outdoor recreation leaders, artists, and youth activists in front of a new climate mural in Downtown Las Vegas to call on Congress to pass comprehensive legislation that invests in our planet and develop a 21st century economy that brings back the healing and health of our environment.

Record-breaking temperatures, raging wildfires, and severe drought threaten communities across Nevada and signal to our leaders the need for transformational climate action. From elected officials to businesses small and large to community members to artists, we all have a unique responsibility to protect our communities from further climate devastation and to promise a healthier future for our youth. The way Nevadans choose to invest in our planet will play a vital role in the way we move forward to protect it.

Climate change is already destroying ecosystems and harming communities across the globe. A recent IPCC report notes opportunities for climate adaptation exist, however, governments must implement measures to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and invest in a clean energy future.
