RENO, NV – May 12, 2021
Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak attended a specially scheduled in-person commencement ceremony for 2020 graduates from the University of Nevada, Reno.
The in-person graduations were canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but UNR was able to plan in-person ceremonies to honor the graduates, their families and loved ones this year.
“I am so glad we are able to gather here in person for this momentous occasion - because each and every one of you deserve this moment, and so do your families,” Gov. Sisolak said to graduates. “This class has truly embodied the Battle Born spirit of our great State by exemplifying perseverance and resilience in the face of historic obstacles. As your Governor, I implore you to continue to push on with the strength that got you here and keep those in mind that helped you get here as you fight for a better future for your family, your community, and your State.”
The Governor expressed his gratitude to UNR President Brian Sandoval, the UNR team and those at Nevada System of Higher Education institutions across the State for continuing to put students and families first during the ongoing pandemic by finding new ways to serve and celebrate students.
