Carson City, NV - January 28, 2020
Today, Governor Steve Sisolak announced the appointment of Brenda Scolari (formerly Nebesky) as Director for the Nevada Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs.
“As Acting Director of the Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Brenda has repeatedly shown that she has the creativity, managerial skills, and sophistication necessary to excel as the Department’s permanent director,” said Governor Sisolak. “A thirty-year marketing professional in both the private and public spheres, Brenda has an intimate understanding of what makes Nevada’s culture and Native American communities special as well as what drives consumer behavior and travel interest. I look forward to seeing what she can accomplish as Nevada enters a new decade of renewed possibilities and economic potential in the tourism space.”

Prior to that, she served as Deputy Director, leading the Marketing, Public Relations, and the Sales and Industry Partners teams. From 2014 to 2018, she served as the Art Director and then the Chief Marketing Officer for Travel Nevada, overseeing award-winning, cutting-edge creative and media strategy.
The Governor appointed Scolari from a list of three persons submitted by the Lieutenant Governor from recommendations made by the Commission on Tourism and other stakeholders.
A native Nevadan, Scolari received her B.A. in Journalism with an emphasis on Advertising from the University of Nevada, Reno.
