Governor Sisolak Praises Community Efforts to Assist Furloughed Federal Workers

LAS VEGAS, NV - January 18, 2019

Governor Steve Sisolak today praised efforts across Nevada to aid federal workers impacted by the federal shutdown. The statement came after NSHE voted to extend tuition and fee deadlines and waive late fees for federal workers or financial dependents of federal workers. Chuck Brennan, founder of Dollar Loan Centers also sent a letter to the governor stating that they would be offering interest-free loans of up to $2,500 to federal workers who are impacted.

"I want to thank our incredible community for coming together to assist federal workers who find themselves struggling through no fault of their own," said Governor Sisolak. "From our system of higher education to business leaders, Nevadans have stepped up to help out their neighbors get through this tough time. It's actions like these that make me immensely proud to be a Nevadan."
