Today, Governor Steve Sisolak announced the appointment of Peter Long as Interim Director of the Department of Administration. The Governor accepted outgoing Director Deonne Contine’s resignation, effectively immediately. The Governor thanks Ms. Contine for her service.
Long has served as the Division of Human Resource Management (DHRM) Administrator since 2016 when he was promoted from DHRM Deputy Administrator, a position he held since 2004. As Division Administrator, Long oversaw all activities of human resources, including the following: Agency Human Resource Services; Central Payroll; Central Records; Compensation, Classification & Recruitment; Consultation & Accountability; Equal Employment Opportunity and Discrimination Investigation Unit; and the Office of Employee Development.
As part of his work for the Division, Long oversaw complex and professional human resource services to directors, administrators, management, and employees throughout the State of Nevada’s dozens of departments and agencies. Those services included employee relations, grievances, discipline, succession planning, policy development, and enforcement.
Long received an A.S. in Business Administration from Yuba College and his B.S. in Business Administration from Sacramento State University. He is also a Certified Public Manager from the State of Nevada and received certification in Mediation and Conflict Resolution from the University of Nevada, Reno.
