EXECUTIVE ORDER 2022-09

HONORING THE VICTIMS OF THE TRAGEDY IN HIGHLAND PARK, ILLINOIS

WHEREAS, on July 4, 2022, a senseless act of violence was perpetrated by a gunman during a celebration of this Country's independence, in Highland Park, Illinois, resulting in the tragic loss of lives; and

WHEREAS, the memories of the victims should be honored as a mark of respect for the innocent lives lost to this senseless violence; and

WHEREAS, we, collectively as a State, condemn these violent acts and pray that the friends and families of the victims of these this terrible act will be comforted by the outpouring of love and charity from their respective communities and from this nation; and

WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides that, "The Supreme Executive Power of this State shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."

NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the laws of the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds until sunset on July 9, 2022, in honor of all the victims of the tragic shooting in Highland Park, Illinois.
