Seal of the State of Nevada



WHEREAS, throughout our nation's history, servicemen and women have selflessly borne the responsibility of protecting and defending our nation, the democratic principles upon which it was founded, as well as the lives and liberties of men, women and children around the world; and  

WHEREAS, Nevada is the "Battle Born" state, a title reflecting its admission to the Union during the Civil War and that, throughout the last 150 years, countless Nevadans have served our state and nation with courage, valor, honor and pride; and 

WHEREAS, on this day, all Nevadans should honor and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our service men and women and never forget those who laid down their lives to protect our nation, preserve liberty and defend the rights and ideals upon which it was founded; and 

WHEREAS, Governor Sisolak has designated 11:00a.m. of that day as a time for all Nevadans to observe a "Moment of Remembrance" on Memorial Day; and 

WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides that, "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada" ; and 

NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada, I hereby direct and order:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds on Monday, May 31, 2021, until noon on that same day.
