
EXECUTIVE ORDER 2021-01
ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF HONORING UNITED STATES CAPITOL POLICE AND OFFICERS BRIAN D. SICKNICKAND HOWARD LIEBENGOOD
WHEREAS, on January 6, 2021, rioters at the U.S. Capitol turned violent resulting in an insurgent mob that forced their way through security and into the U.S. Capitol; and
WHEREAS, several United States Capitol Police officers were injured in the course of securing the U.S. Capitol; and
WHEREAS, Officer Brian D. Sicknick passed away due to injuries sustained during the riot; and
WHEREAS, Officer Howard Liebengood passed away days after the January 6, 2021 riot; and
WHEREAS, Nevadans honor the ultimate sacrifice made by these officers and honor the service all of the U.S. Capitol Police;
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada, and pursuant to the Proclamation issued by President Donald]. Trump on January 10th 2021, and pursuant to section 7 of title 4 of the United States Code, it is hereby ordered as follows:
The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds until sunset on January 13, 2021, in honor of the United States Capitol Police and Officers Sicknick and Liebengood.
