CARSON CITY, Nev. – Governor Joe Lombardo has joined 22 fellow Republican governors in urging Congressional leadership to pass the Secure America Act (S. 2), legislation that would provide sustained funding for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a joint letter sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and House Speaker Mike Johnson, the governors emphasized the critical role CBP and ICE play in protecting American communities, securing the nation's borders, and combating drug trafficking, human trafficking, and other criminal activity. The governors called on Congress to provide long-term funding for both agencies and ensure they have the resources necessary to carry out their missions.

"As a former sheriff, I know firsthand that law enforcement officers cannot do their jobs effectively without the personnel, equipment, and resources they need to keep communities safe," said Governor Joe Lombardo. "The men and women of CBP and ICE are on the front lines protecting our nation from dangerous criminals, drug traffickers, and human traffickers. Congress has a responsibility to ensure these agencies are fully funded and fully equipped to carry out their mission.”

Governor Lombardo has made public safety a top priority for his administration. In 2025, he signed the Safe Streets and Neighborhoods Act (AB4), one of the most comprehensive public safety reforms enacted in Nevada. Building on his decades of law enforcement experience, Governor Lombardo continues to advocate for policies that support law enforcement officers, hold criminals accountable, and keep Nevada communities safe.
