WHEREAS, the State of Nevada acknowledges the vibrant cultural heritage and significant contributions of the Caribbean-American community to our state and nation; and
WHEREAS, Caribbean-Americans have enriched the cultural tapestry of Nevada with their traditions, music, cuisine, and diverse perspectives, contributing to the cultural mosaic that defines our state; and
WHEREAS, Caribbean-Americans have made enduring contributions to various fields including arts, literature, sports, science, politics, and entrepreneurship, inspiring future generations and leaving an indelible mark on our society; and
WHEREAS, June is recognized nationwide as Caribbean-American Heritage Month, providing an opportunity for all Nevadans to celebrate the rich legacy and achievements of Caribbean- Americans, and to honor their resilience, creativity, and determination in the face of adversity; and
WHEREAS, by commemorating Caribbean-American Heritage Month, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering cultural understanding and recognizing the valuable contributions of Caribbean-Americans to the social, economic, and cultural fabric of Nevada and the United States; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada joins our Caribbean-American population in celebrating the legacy and essential contributions of Caribbean-Americans who have added so much to our state and nation;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOE LOMBARDO, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of June 2024 as
CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH IN NEVADA
