WHEREAS, research suggests that among school-related factors, teachers matter more to student achievement than any other aspect of schooling; and

WHEREAS, the teaching profession benefits from educators who are empowered to lead within and beyond the classroom, allowing them to best prepare young people to become contributing members of our community; and

WHEREAS, Nevada educators go above and beyond to support the academic, social and emotional wellbeing of students and their families; and

WHEREAS, amidst the uncertainties of the Covid-19 pandemic, educators in the Silver State demonstrated their resiliency and resourcefulness as they focused on their students’ wellbeing as school abruptly shifted to a distance learning; and

WHEREAS, Nevada educators demonstrate ongoing commitment to being life-long learners to support the diverse and ever-changing needs of young people in our schools; and

WHEREAS, Nevada educators are vital in building the future through their dedicated efforts to ensure our children learn the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in college, careers, and life; and

WHEREAS, here are more than 30,000 dedicated pre-K-12 educators working tirelessly in Nevada's schools to help students achieve and prepare them for higher education and the workforce; and

WHEREAS, our community acknowledges the impact of educators on our lives and thanks Nevada teachers for their continued support;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of May 2 - 6, 2022, as

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK IN NEVADA
