WHEREAS, the American Occupational Therapy Association has declared the month of April 2022 to be known as Occupational Therapy Month to recognize all the benefits and positive health outcomes this specialized healthcare provides; and

WHEREAS, the profession of occupational therapy makes vital contributions in helping people "Live Life to Its Fullest" after an illness, injury, or the effects of aging; and

WHEREAS, currently in the Silver State there are 1,697 licensed occupational therapy practitioners serving the needs of Nevadans of all ages; and

WHEREAS, occupational therapy services are available to the citizens of Nevada through, hospitals, home health agencies, schools, clinics, nursing homes and private practices; and

WHEREAS, occupational therapy practitioners use evaluations, teachings and interventions to facilitate activities of daily living to enable individuals to participate fully in and enhance their lives at home, at school, in the workplace and in the community; and

WHEREAS, the health and productivity of our citizens in the Silver State depend upon the effective use of health care resources, including the indispensable services of occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants; and

WHEREAS, during the COVID-19 pandemic, occupational therapy practitioners served as part of the essential critical infrastructure workforce tackling the devastating effects of COVID-19, by addressing individuals’ symptoms, identifying mental health concerns and providing virtual school-based services for children; and

WHEREAS, Occupational Therapy Month in Nevada is a time to celebrate the integral work that occupational therapy practitioners provide the citizens of Nevada and the positive outcomes for the individuals who they serve;
