
WHEREAS, the fight for equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender queer, intersex, asexual, and 2 spirit plus (LGBTQIA2S+) people is reflected in the unwavering dedication of those who work to build a more inclusive society; and
WHEREAS, June 28 is the nationally recognized day of the Stonewall uprising that sparked the modern equality movement; and
WHEREAS, PRIDE month is a time to recall the challenges that LGBTQIA2S+ people have overcome and to celebrate the contributions of LGBTQIA2S+ persons have made to our great State; and
WHEREAS, PRIDE month is a joyous community celebration of dignity, self expression and this PRIDE month we reaffirm our commitment to solidarity and equality; and
WHEREAS, the Silver State is committed to equality and the month of June is an opportunity to recognize the impact that LGBTQIA2S+ individuals have had and will continue to have on our State and nation, and a time to reflect on the progress that has been made, while focusing on the steps that can still be taken to eliminate prejudice and exclusion, celebrate diversity and create a more inclusive society for all;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the month of June 2022, as
LAS VEGAS PRIDE MONTH IN NEVADA
