WHEREAS, Gastroparesis is a chronic illness which according to the NIH affects more than 5 million people; and

WHEREAS, Gastroparesis is a disorder where the stomach is slow to empty its contents and represent the most severe degree of such disturbances and with few medical treatment options available, this digestive disease can disable individuals in the prime of their lives; and

WHEREAS, there is no known cure, and few effective treatment options or medications are available for digestive motility disorders; and

WHEREAS, patients must see their physician more frequently, visit hospital emergency rooms more often. Regularly admitted to the hospital for symptoms particularly; and

WHEREAS, August is Gastroparesis Awareness Month, with the goal of drawing attention to important health messages about gastroparesis diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life issues, the goals include increasing understanding of gastroparesis to help patients and families manage the condition and encouraging preventive measures; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada support bringing awareness of the disorder of Gastroparesis to improve the lives of those living with this condition and contribute to the overall quality of public health;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim August 1, 2022, as

GASTROPARESIS DAY IN NEVADA
