WHEREAS, the Affordable Care Act has dramatically increased access to health care and emphasizes the quality of care delivered rather than the quantity of care, with a focus on reducing preventable hospital readmissions; and

WHEREAS, the nation's 89,000 clinical nurse specialists hold the position as advanced practice registered nurses and are prepared to lead with advanced degrees, system-wide leadership skills and expertise in evidence-based practice; and

WHEREAS, as leaders in nursing, clinical nurse specialists use their skills and expertise to develop, implement and lead interventions that: ensure safe transitions of care; and reduce the incidence of complications in hospitalized patients, which reduce readmissions, as well as reduces hospital costs and length of stays; and

WHEREAS, as our health care system continues to change and evolve to meet emerging needs and priorities, we need clinical nurse specialists more than ever to help lead that transformation and ensure patient safety and reduce health costs for all patients;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of September 1 - 7, 2022, as

CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALISTS' RECOGNITION WEEK IN NEVADA
