WHEREAS, clean energy makes up nearly 14% of the nation's electricity generation and provides enough clean energy to power over 57 million homes; and

WHEREAS, Nevada does not produce fossil fuels of any significant amount, and gasoline, jet fuel, and natural gas for electricity or direct use must be imported; and

WHEREAS, Nevada has seen a significant increase in capturing its abundant renewable energy resources and has more than tripled its renewable energy production since 2011; and

WHEREAS, clean energy powers our state's economy as well, driving more than $9 billion in total capital investment to date, $19 million in annual state and local tax payments, and $23.4 million in lease payments to Nevada landowners; and

WHEREAS, clean energy provides more than 14,400 full-time jobs for Nevadans; and

WHEREAS, renewable energy makes up approximately 25% of Nevada’s electricity generation; and

WHEREAS, our state's commitment to clean energy has already proven to be a key component of our economic growth, and with continued investment we can remain at the forefront of energy innovation and development; and

WHEREAS, American Clean Power Week is a nationwide celebration of clean energy and the good-paying jobs the industry creates for Americans across all 50 states;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of August 15 - 19, 2022, as

AMERICAN CLEAN POWER WEEK IN NEVADA
