WHEREAS, Senator Moises (“Mo”) Denis has served Nevadans in the State Legislature with honor and dignity since 2004; and

WHEREAS, Senator Denis was first elected to the State Assembly in 2004, and served three terms there before being elected to the State Senate in 2010; and

WHEREAS, in the State Senate, Senator Denis served as Majority Leader in 2013 and as President Pro Tempore since 2016; and

WHEREAS, Senator Denis was the first Latino to serve as both State Senate Majority Leader and President Pro Tempore; and

WHEREAS, he is a graduate of Brigham Young University and has worked as a computer technician both in and out of government, including for the Nevada Public Utilities Commission; and

WHEREAS, Senator Denis is the recipient of numerous awards, including being named Hispanic of the Year by the Latin Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, Senator Denis is a longtime Nevadan whose parents immigrated from Cuba and a graduate of Rancho High School; and

WHEREAS, he is married to Susan Cook, and they are the proud parents of five wonderful children; and

WHEREAS, Senator Denis also dedicates significant time and effort to and in his faith community; and

WHEREAS, 2022 will be his last year in the Nevada Legislature, completing 18 years of amazing service; and

WHEREAS, on behalf of the residents of the State of Nevada, I thank and commend Senator Mo Denis for his many years of devoted and honorable service to our Silver State and wish him continued success in all of his future endeavors;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim October 20, 2022, as a day in honor of
