WHEREAS, Guy Puglisi has served the Silver State with distinction and professional service for over 25 years. He has displayed exceptional commitment and dedication throughout his many years of service with the State of Nevada, during which time residents of this great state were fortunate to have him as an advocate and civil servant; and

WHEREAS, he began his career at the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) as an Employment and Training Specialist at the Owens District Office on November 17, 1997. He was later promoted to the positions of Lead Worker and Training Specialist in June 2003 and Family Services Supervisor in March 2005 where he mentored, developed, and evaluated hundreds of administrative and case management staff; and

WHEREAS, Guy was promoted to the position of Management Analyst III in August 2010, which functioned as the program manager for the State Collection and Disbursement Unit responsible for the collection and distribution of over 200 million dollars in annual child support payments each year; and

WHEREAS, he was promoted to the positions of Social Services Manager II in November 2013 and Social Services Manager IV in June 2017 where he managed the Decatur, Flamingo, and Spring Mountain District offices. At various times, Guy was also responsible for managing the Centralized Hearings Unit, Community Assistance Center, Pahrump District Office, Sparks District Office, and the Energy Assistance Program; and

WHEREAS, Guy spent one year at the State Treasurer's Office as a Management Analyst IV responsible for managing the Unclaimed Property Division. During this year, he streamlined and reorganized office functions and technology resources to shorten claim processing times, maintain an electronic inventory of unclaimed personal property, and instituted Nevada's first online unclaimed property auction in 2016 and Nevada never looked back. Guy on the other hand, later returned to his true home at DWSS; and

WHEREAS, he participated on many committees and special projects during his career. One of the most noteworthy accomplishments was the great effort he put into the identification, planning, and opening of five new field offices in Southern Nevada to accommodate the hundreds of new staff needed to implement the Affordable Care Act. Guy also participated in the unprecedented partnership between DWSS and DETR to process and clear over 365K claim issues during the COVID-19 Pandemic; and

WHEREAS, Guy was appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval to serve on the Employee Management Committee, which is responsible for final administrative review of employee grievances and serves in an advisory capacity to the Governor. He served from August 2015 until February 2021, during which time he served as co-vice chair for one year and the committee chairman for two years; and

WHEREAS, In honor and recognition of his significant contributions to Nevada, his friends and colleagues would like to thank and commend him for his decades of devoted and honorable service, and extend their best wishes for a healthy, happy, prosperous, and fulfilling retirement;
