WHEREAS, problem gambling is a public health issue affecting Nevadans of all ages, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, problem gambling has a significant impact on individuals, families, businesses, and communities across the state; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada has established the Revolving Account for the Prevention and Treatment of Problem Gambling, providing Nevada residents access to affordable treatment services, as well as supporting problem gambling prevention, education and, research initiatives; and

WHEREAS, the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling and the Governor's Advisory Committee on Problem Gambling work with all stakeholders to provide sustainable programs and services to reduce the impact of problem gambling, while providing access to information, treatment, and support services through the 24-hour confidential Problem Gamblers Help Line (1-800-522-4700) and WhenTheFunStops.org, and

WHEREAS, addressing and preventing problem gambling is a priority in the Silver State and an important component of Nevada’s continued leadership in the global gaming industry;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim March 2021 as

PROBLEM GAMBLING AWARENESS MONTH IN NEVADA
