
WHEREAS, June 25, 2021 marks the 71st Anniversary of the beginning of the Korean War in 1950; and
WHEREAS, more than 54,000 American servicemembers courageously fought against the Communist invaders of Korea and gave their lives; and
WHEREAS, more than 103,000 American Military were wounded, with more than 8,000 American Military declared Missing in Action, and 7,000 American Military taken as Prisoners of War; and
WHEREAS, the great State of Nevada also honors the 37 Nevadans who had Fallen and paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation during the Korean War and who are now memorialized at State and National Memorials; and
WHEREAS, this so-called 'Forgotten War' will never be forgotten in our minds and hearts; and
WHEREAS, the willingness of the Armed Forces of the United States of America to put their lives on the line for freedom of all people and peace in the world, is a lasting legacy to our great American Spirit and Honor;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the day of June 25, 2021, as
KOREAN WAR REMEMBRANCE DAY
