WHEREAS, the Corporation for National and Community Service, established in 1993, is a federal agency that engages millions of Americans in national service through programs such as AmeriCorps; and

WHEREAS, AmeriCorps is a national network of service programs that provide Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to serve their communities and help grassroots organizations meet local needs; and

WHEREAS, AmeriCorps enriches the lives of its members by creating jobs and providing pathways to opportunities as they enter the workforce while encouraging collaboration and partnership; and

WHEREAS, in Nevada, 513 AmeriCorps members help improve their communities at locations in 15 counties; and

WHEREAS, AmeriCorps Week provides an opportunity to recognize the dedication and commitment of more than one million Americans who have chosen to serve their communities through AmeriCorps and their community partners, with hopes of encouraging and inspiring others to do the same;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim
