WHEREAS, the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV is now fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the accrediting body for medical schools in the U.S. and Canada; and

WHEREAS, the accreditation process was successfully completed in less than four years without any significant delays; and

WHEREAS, the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV recently celebrated its first Match Day; and

WHEREAS, results from Match Day indicated the students are well prepared and every graduating student matched, which is impressive for a new medical school; and

WHEREAS, several students matched at prestigious institutions, including Yale, Penn, Stanford and Johns Hopkins; and

WHEREAS, the school is currently addressing the shortage of health care professionals in Southern Nevada by training future physicians and serving the community; and

WHEREAS, to date, SOM physicians have seen more than 330,000 patients at UNLV Medicine's 14 clinics, have had 180,000 hospital encounters, performed 52,000 surgeries and delivered more than 5,000 babies;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 7, 2021, as a day in honor of
