WHEREAS, the College of Southern Nevada empowers its students to achieve, succeed, and prosper and is recognized as a leader among community colleges in fostering student success, shared governance, and performance excellence; and

WHEREAS, Clark County Community College first opened its doors to students in a small building on Main Street in 1971 in the City of Las Vegas and has expanded across the region, with three main campuses and more than 50 sites and centers throughout Nevada; and

WHEREAS, reflecting its expanded mission, the college is now known as the College of Southern Nevada, or CSN; and

WHEREAS, the college offers more than 180 degree and certificate programs, including 10 bachelor's degrees and 26 degrees available entirely online; and

WHEREAS, CSN is now the largest and most diverse higher education institution in the State of Nevada; and

WHEREAS, CSN has an estimated $1.1 billion annual economic impact to the State of Nevada and supports jobs for more than 15,000 community members;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim August 30, 2021, as a day in honor of the

COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN NEVADA 50th ANNIVERSARY
