Seal of the State of Nevada

WHEREAS, Gregory Scott Baker has served the State of Nevada with distinction and professional excellence for more than 33 years; and

WHEREAS, over the years, Chief Baker has served as Fire Fighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Captain, Division Chief in Reno, and Fire Chief for the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District; and

WHEREAS, serving the citizens in the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, Chief Baker demonstrated his steadfast leadership through the newly established standards of cover, a new rescue fireboat to improve water safety, and improved fire water supply to protect homes and businesses; and

WHEREAS, Chief Baker recovered Fire Safe Federal Funds for the Tahoe Basin, led the Tahoe Fire and Fuels Team through the Lake Tahoe Regional Fire Chiefs Association, doubled the wildland firefighter response in the Fire District by adding a second crew to prevent and suppress wildfires in the region; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Baker, Nevada Air Guard, served our nation and the citizens of Nevada faithfully as Chief Navigator with the Nevada Air National Guard for 27 years of service, including overseas assignments as the 192 EAS Squadron Commander Ali AB, Iraq; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Gregory Scott Baker for his years of service to the citizens and visitors of our great state and offers best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim January 12, 2021, as a day in honor of
