
WHEREAS, Dr. Trudy Larson is retiring from a 44-year career of dedicated, passionate service to medicine, health research, education and public health; and
WHEREAS, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public and Behavioral Health, and the Nevada Systems of Higher Education recognize her exceptional achievements as the founding Dean of the School of Community Health Sciences at the University of Nevada, Reno; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Larson leaves a lasting legacy in Nevada in the area of pediatric infectious disease, immunizations, and HIV/AIDS from her medical career, as a founder and Medical Director of Northern Nevada HOPES, and co-Medical Director of the AIDS Education and training Center; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Larson dedicated service to the community through the Northern Nevada Immunization Coalition, as a medical consultant for the Washoe County Health District, and for the Governor's Medical Advisory Team for COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, the National Public Health Week is recognized the first week of April and serves as an opportunity to recognize the contributions of public health service and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation's health; and
WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends Dr. Trudy Larson on her commitment to fostering new passionate young leaders, providing expertise and leading the charge for public health service;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim May 14, 2021, as a day in honor of
