
WHEREAS, Immunization Awareness Month highlights the importance of continuing to fight against infectious diseases through the use of vaccines, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared as one of the top ten public health accomplishments of the 20th century; and
WHEREAS, continued immunization is necessary to ensure a healthy future, protected from devastating illnesses and potential outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases; and
WHEREAS, the sustained immunization efforts of physicians, nurses, pharmacists and healthcare professionals has significantly reduced the threat of many infectious diseases; and
WHEREAS, vaccines are recommended throughout our lives, as well as during pregnancy, to ensure babies are born with protection, until they can get their own vaccines; and
WHEREAS, Immunization Awareness Month is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of vaccines, highlight the importance of immunizations for people of all ages, and increase awareness of vaccine-preventable diseases;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim August 2020 as
IMMUNIZATION AWARENESS MONTH IN NEVADA
