LAS VEGAS, NV - December 10, 2021

Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak released additional details after Tuesday’s "JobFest” held in Las Vegas. Of the 2,100 job seekers who attended the event, 251 were hired on the spot, according to initial reports from employers.

Many employers were able to conduct first, second and third interviews and expect to hire hundreds more qualified applicants in the coming weeks.

“I am grateful to all our State agencies and partners for helping to make the JobFest an incredible success, helping to cement Nevada’s place leading the nation in hiring rate,” said Governor Sisolak. “My administration is committed to continuing to work across sectors to make sure that Nevadans have access to job-training programs and employment opportunities.”

An example of a successful employer is Amazon, who interviewed over 200 job seekers and expects to hire at least 50 additional individuals by the end of the year. Walgreens conducted over 100 interviews, hired 20 on the spot, and expects to hire 30 more people in the coming weeks based on the fruitful interviews.

Employers who were not able to hire on the spot conducted 1,200 interviews and are thrilled with the talent pool of attendees.

In addition to the 182 employers, there were many resources available to the JobFest attendees including childcare, training, and legal services. Approximately 146 people were vaccinated by Immunize Nevada and OptimuMedicine and are ready to get back to work safely.

JobFest was sponsored by Nevada JobConnect, the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
