Governor Sisolak meets with State, local leaders to discuss maximizing Nevada’s federal grant funds

CARSON CITY, NV – January 28, 2021

Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak joined State Treasurer Zach Conine, Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno, Congresswoman Susie Lee and a group of Nevada nonprofits to discuss how the State can maximize bringing federal grant funding into the State.

“Nevada has historically underperformed at taking advantage of federal grant dollars and resources. Nevada ranks 47th in the nation when it comes to leveraging federal grant dollars,” Governor Sisolak said. “I am grateful for the state and community leaders who joined me today to begin identifying the challenges and solutions that will allow Nevada to increase our fair share of federal grants that will help fund critical programs and services like education, low-income housing, and reliable access to healthy food.”

State officials and representatives from the Nevada Legislature and our Federal Delegation were able to hear from grant recipients about challenges they face and what actions State officials can take to help in the immediate future, including in the upcoming legislative session.
