CARSON CITY – April 12, 2021
Today, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak held the first panel as part of a new Women’s Leadership Series, as a way to highlight female leadership across the State and create connections to the next generation of leaders.
“The State of Nevada is committed to celebrating and highlighting the contributions of women all year round, and this effort will help connect and inspire the next generation of leaders,” Governor Sisolak said in an opening message during today’s panel. “I’m proud that over 70 percent of my staff and a majority of my executive cabinet positions are made up of women leaders, and that Nevada is the first state in the country to have a majority-women state legislature. In order to ensure Nevada continues to bring all voices to the table, it’s critical that young women throughout the State have the opportunity to engage and feel empowered.”
Today’s panel, which was attended virtually by high school juniors and seniors across the State, focused on female leaders who have broken glass ceilings in their respective fields. Panelists included:
- State Senator and Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro
- Charina De Asis, Director of the Governor’s Office for New Americans
- Nevada Sports Net Reporter Kirsten Moran
