EXECUTIVE ORDER 2022-12

ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF IN HONOR OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II

WHEREAS, on September 8, 2022 Queen Elizabeth II passed away; and

WHEREAS, Queen Elizabeth II reigned for seven decades, during which she deepened the alliance between the United Kingdom and the United States; and

WHEREAS, Queen Elizabeth II led with bravery, dignity, grace, and commitment to duty; and

WHEREAS, the legacy Queen Elizabeth II leaves is one of steady leadership through a time of unprecedented changes and human advancements; and

WHEREAS, the President of the United States has directed the flag of the United States be displayed at half-staff at federal government buildings and facilities until sunset on the day of interment; and

WHEREAS, Article 5 Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."

NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds until sunset on the day of interment.
