EXECUTIVE ORDER 2022-06
ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF
HONORING THE VICTIMS OF THE
UVALDE, TEXAS TRAGEDY
WHEREAS, on May 24, 2022, a senseless act of violence was perpetrated by a gunman at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, resulting in the tragic loss of lives; and
WHEREAS, the memories of the victims should be honored as a mark of respect for the innocent lives lost to this senseless violence; and
WHEREAS, we, collectively as a State, condemn these violent acts and pray that the friends and families of the victims of this terrible act will be comforted by the outpouring of love and charity from their respective communities and from this nation; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides that, "The Supreme Executive Power of this State shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the Stare of Nevada."
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the laws of the United States, and pursuant to the Proclamation issued by President Joseph R. Biden on May 24, 2022, it is hereby ordered as follows:
The flags of the United States and the Stare of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds until sunset on May 28, 2022, in honor of all the victims of the tragic shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
