
EXECUTIVE ORDER
ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF IN HONOR OF GENERAL COLIN POWELL
WHEREAS, General Colin Powell passed away on October 18, 2021; and
WHEREAS, General Powell was born to immigrant parents in New York City in 1937 and was raised in Harlem and the South Bronx; and
WHEREAS, General Powell graduated from the City College of New York, rose to the highest ranks of the United States military, and served as an advisor to four Presidents; and
WHEREAS, General Powell embodied the highest ideals of both warrior and diplomat, and he will be remembered in history as one of our great Americans.
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada, and pursuant to the Proclamation issued by President Joseph R. Biden on October 18, 2021, and pursuant to section 7 of title 4 of the United States Code, it is hereby ordered as follows:
The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds until sunset on October 22, 2021, in honor of General Colin Powell and his life of service to our Nation.
