EXECUTIVE ORDER 2021-24

ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF HONORING FIREFIGHTERS AND FIRST RESPONDERS

WHEREAS, more than 44,000 wildfires have burned nearly 5.3 million acres nationwide this year, and

WHEREAS, these fires have taken precious lives, displaced families, destroyed businesses, and filled the air with smoke for hundreds of miles; and

WHEREAS, thousands of brave firefighters and first responders put their lives on the line every day; and

WHEREAS, we, collectively as a State, remain grateful for the courage and compassion shown by firefighters and first responders who heroically responded to these wildfires and who provided aid and assistance to evacuated residents.

NOW, THEREFORE,  by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada, and pursuant to the Proclamation issued by President Joseph R. Biden on October 1, 2021, and pursuant to section 7 of title 4 of the United States Code, it is hereby ordered as follows:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds from sunrise to sunset on October 3, 2021 in honor of firefighters and first responders who risk their lives to protect our State and our Nation during these catastrophic fires.
