
EXECUTIVE ORDER 2021-17
ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF
WHEREAS, Nevada Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol Division Trooper Micah May was a proud Nevadan who devoted his life to serving his state and his country; and
WHEREAS, Trooper Micah May began his service to the State of Nevada in April 2008, served and protected the State of Nevada with the Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol Division since graduation from the Academy; and
WHEREAS, Trooper May received the Medal of Valor for his courageous actions in the line of duty, along with numerous awards for his contributions toward the prevention of impaired driving and the enforcement of laws againt impaired driving; and
WHEREAS, Trooper May gave the ultimate sacrifice and ended his watch on July 29, 2021 as a result of fatal injuries suffered while on duty, serving the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered that:
The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all state public buildings and grounds from sunrise until sunset on Friday, August 6, 2021, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Micah May.
