
EXECUTIVE ORDER 2020-02
ORDERING FLAGS TO HALF STAFF
WHEREAS, Mayor Robert “Bob” Cashell dedicated over 35 years his life to public service to the State of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Cashell served as Chairman of the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents from 1979 to 1982; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Cashell served as Lieutenant Governor of the State of Nevada from 1983 to 1987; and
WHEREAS, in 1988 Mayor Cashell was bestowed the Distinguished Nevadan Award by the Board of Regents for his significant contributions to the advancement of Nevada; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Cashell served as Mayor of the City of Reno from 2002 to 2014; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Cashell was renowned for philanthropic and humanitarian work; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Cashell was such a devoted supporter of the University of Nevada, Reno football program that the Robert Cashell Field House was dedicated in his name; and
WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides: "The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada."
NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, it is hereby ordered that:
The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all state public buildings and grounds until sunset on Friday, February 14, 2020, as a mark of respect and in remembrance of Mayor Bob Cashell.
