Seal of the State of Nevada



WHEREAS, the State of Nevada, as an embodiment of its constituent residents, expresses its profound grief for those affected by the tragic shooting at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia;

WHEREAS, the Silver State joins the Nation in a show of solemn respect for the victims of the terrible act of violence in Virginia that occurred on May 31, 2019;

WHEREAS, Article 5, Section 1 of the Nevada Constitution provides that, “The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada.”

NOW, THEREFORE, by the authority vested in me as Governor by the Constitution and laws of the State of Nevada and the United States, I hereby direct and order:

The flags of the United States and the State of Nevada shall be flown at half staff at the State Capitol and state public buildings and grounds beginning Saturday, June 01, 2019 until sunset of June 04, 2019.
