During his three months in office, Governor Jim Gibbons has made
52 appointments to state boards and commissions in addition to
his appointment or reappointment of 16 cabinet members and the
appointment of two Clark County district judges and two county
commissioners for Clark and Lincoln Counties. The people
appointed to the state’s various boards and commissions come
from all over Nevada and from a variety of ethnic backgrounds,
creating more diversity in state government.
“I’ve never relied on quotas to dictate my choices, but rather
each individual’s qualifications. We have a wealth of talent in
this state,”
Governor Gibbons continued, “and I’ve used that talent to
bring more minorities and more people from all areas of our
state into Nevada’s governing process. Government should
reflect the people it represents.”
