CARSON CITY, NV – September 18, 2023

Today, Governor Joe Lombardo announced his appointment of Iris Ramos Jones as Director of the Governor’s Office for New Americans (ONA).

“I’m pleased to announce my appointment of Iris Ramos Jones as the new Director of the Office for New Americans,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “Iris understands the unique challenges and opportunities facing new Americans firsthand, and I have the utmost confidence in her to lead this important office with her trademark confidence and integrity.”

“I'm deeply honored and grateful to Governor Lombardo for entrusting me with this important role. It is a privilege to be part of an administration that values the contributions of our newest legal citizens,” said Director Iris Ramos Jones. “I’m excited to work alongside our state's newest residents as they navigate their journey, particularly in terms of language acquisition and career development."

Originally from Ecuador, Iris immigrated to the United States and quickly established herself as a community leader in Las Vegas. Iris previously served as a realtor with Engel & Volker and as a manager at Las Vegas en tu Idioma. In 2021, Iris was appointed by the Clark County Commission to serve a three-year term as a Citizen Review Board Member at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The Governor’s Office for New Americans was created through Senate Bill 538 in 2019 to promote opportunities for immigrants, refugees, and aspiring Americans to thrive in Nevada.
