WHEREAS, promoting volunteerism and community service is a foundational priority for the State of Nevada and contributes to building safe, strong, and successful neighborhoods and communities; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer Week offers an important opportunity to recognize and celebrate Nevadans, and our state's valuable service organizations, who selflessly give their time and talent to improve the quality of life of those in need; and

WHEREAS, Nevada's citizens are served every day by dedicated volunteers of all ages who support the operations of countless not-for-profit organizations and state, local and federal programs committed to expanding access to those in poverty, the homeless, the elderly, the disabled, and others in need of assistance; and

WHEREAS, the State of Nevada commends the many volunteers who work to make a difference through community service, with special appreciation for the role they play in touching the lives of those around them;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, STEVE SISOLAK, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, do hereby proclaim the week of April 7 – 13, 2019, as

VOLUNTEER WEEK IN NEVADA
